Sensei Christopher Douglas McLean

Mr. McLean began his formal Martial Arts training in Karate in 1985 with Sensei Larry Lunn.  Testing for Shodan in akron, Ohio in 1989.  When Sensei Lunn moved from Texas, he advised his students to continue training and learning the martial arts.

Mr. McLean moved to New Orleans and trained with Sensei Tak Mikani and attended classed at Sensei Mikani's chief instructor's dojo, King Lam, for approximately one year.

Upon returning to Houston he continued his training with Sensei Joe Thomas in MushinKai.  He also trained in Shorinryu and Gojuryu.  He attended seminars in Houston with Morio Higonna.

Mr. McLean undertook the study of Judo at the dojo of the world renown instructor Master Karl Geis, at the suggestion of Sensei Lunn.  Mr. Geis has a tremendous reputation and is known throughout the world for turning out some of the finest Judoka.  He started training in Judo in 1989 and was promoted to Ikkyu brown belt.  While maintaining his practice of MushinKai.

He began training with Ramon Veras under Sensei Morio Higonna in Gojuryu in 1989 until 1990.  He transferred his training to Mr. Raymond Keller's dojo to study Shorinryu.  Raymond Keller was the chief instructor, other notable instructors were Chris Estes, Rusty Scott, Mr. Mike Arnold (Mr. Keller's Sensei).  He also received private instruction along with Sensei Joe Thomas.  Due to a work conflict he was unable to continue training at this dojo.

While training with Joe Thomas he started teaching with the Young Olympians Group in the Houston Park and Recreation System in 1995.

In 1996 he was employed as Martial Arts Instructor by Chuck Norris's Kick Start Program at Northbrook High School in Houston, Texas.  He began formal study of Chuck Norris's style of Chun Kuk Do under Sensei Ed Saenz, receiving his black belt in June 2003 before a certified test board.  While acting as a full time Martial Arts Instructor at Northbrook High School, he was elevated to the position of Team Leader Area 1, administering black belt testing to all degrees up to Third Dan.

In 2001 he received an affiliate black belt in Zendokai under Sensei Robert Gifford.

Mr. McLean's training includes the following:

Mushinryu   Judo   Aikido   Gojuryu   Shorinryu   Chun Kuk Do   Zendokai

and holds formal rank promotions: 4th Dan Mushinkai, 3rd Dan Mushinkai Jujitsu, Shodan Zendokai and Shodan Chun Kuk Do.
