1982-1987 Mr. Vaughn began his
formal Martial Arts training in 1982 under Sensei Larry
Lunn. Mr. Vaughn had the honor of beginning his Martial
Arts training under the private instruction of Sensei
Larry Lunn at Bob’s Gym in Houston, Texas. Mr. Vaughn
was further honored by continuing his training under
Sensei Lunn, along with Sensei Joe Thomas and Sensei
Christopher McLean. Throughout this time frame, Mr.
Vaughn worked in the Night Club Security field, where he
was able to apply his training in real life self-defense
situations.
1987-1990 Mr. Vaughn’s direct
instruction under Sensei Lunn was interrupted in 1987
when he enlisted in the U. S. Army. During his three
years in the Army, Mr. Vaughn was in a rapid deployment
unit in the Army’s 10TH Mountain Division.
In 1988, Mr. Vaughn was deployed to Honduras as the
Personal Protective Agent for the Commander of Joint
Task Force-B, who was the Commander of all Army and Air
Force personnel in Honduras. While in this highly
sensitive position, Mr. Vaughn provided protective
services, not only to the Commander of JTF-B, but to
numerous high ranking Military personnel and Civilian
Dignitaries throughout Honduras. In 1989-1990 Mr.
Vaughn was deployed to Panama as a Team Leader for
combat missions during Operation Just Cause, the
Invasion of Panama. During his time in the Army, while
not on deployment, Mr. Vaughn continued his study of the
Martial Arts, both on his own, and with fellow Martial
Artists stationed at Ft. Drum.
1990-1994 After his Honorable
Discharge from the Army in 1990, Mr. Vaughn returned to
the Houston area and resumed his training in MushinKai
under Sensei Joe Thomas and Sensei Christopher McLean.

and Mr. Tino Khvang to Shodan in March of 1991
1994-Present In 1994, Mr. Vaughn’s
training with Sensei Joe Thomas and Sensei Christopher
McLean was interrupted in 1994 when Mr. Vaughn attended
a Police Academy in Texas. Mr. Vaughn began his study
of Jujitsu in 1996. Mr. Vaughn became one of his
Department’s three certified Defensive Tactics
Instructors in 2001, teaching a Law Enforcement oriented
Defensive Tactics System developed by Bruce Siddle,
called PPCT, or Pressure Point Control Tactics. The
System teaches the control of combative subjects through
the use of basic kicks, strikes, joint locks, and take
downs from various styles of martial arts, as well as
pain compliance through the use of pressure points,
speed handcuffing, and the use of the expandable baton.
Mr. Vaughn has been a member of his Departments SWAT
Team since 1998, and has held a Sniper Position since
2000. He received Diplomatic Security training from the
U.S. Department of State.
At present, Mr. Vaughn has resumed
training under the instruction of Sensei Joe Thomas and
Sensei Christopher McLean, under the direction of Sensei
Lunn. (do not have the date to promotion to 2nd
Degree)
Mr. Vaughn is a devoted father of
two young children and looks forward to the time that
they are old enough to begin their study of the Martial
Arts.
