1982-1987 Mr. Vaughn began his formal Martial Arts training in 1982 under Sensei Larry Lunn.  Mr. Vaughn had the honor of beginning his Martial Arts training under the private instruction of Sensei Larry Lunn at Bob’s Gym in Houston, Texas.  Mr. Vaughn was further honored by continuing his training under Sensei Lunn, along with Sensei Joe Thomas and Sensei Christopher McLean.  Throughout this time frame, Mr. Vaughn worked in the Night Club Security field, where he was able to apply his training in real life self-defense situations.

1987-1990 Mr. Vaughn’s direct instruction under Sensei Lunn was interrupted in 1987 when he enlisted in the U. S. Army.  During his three years in the Army, Mr. Vaughn was in a rapid deployment unit in the Army’s 10TH Mountain Division.  In 1988, Mr. Vaughn was deployed to Honduras as the Personal Protective Agent for the Commander of Joint Task Force-B, who was the Commander of all Army and Air Force personnel in Honduras.  While in this highly sensitive position, Mr. Vaughn provided protective services, not only to the Commander of JTF-B, but to numerous high ranking Military personnel and Civilian Dignitaries throughout Honduras.  In 1989-1990 Mr. Vaughn was deployed to Panama as a Team Leader for combat missions during Operation Just Cause, the Invasion of Panama.  During his time in the Army, while not on deployment, Mr. Vaughn continued his study of the Martial Arts, both on his own, and with fellow Martial Artists stationed at Ft. Drum.

1990-1994 After his Honorable Discharge from the Army in 1990, Mr. Vaughn returned to the Houston area and resumed his training in MushinKai under Sensei Joe Thomas and Sensei Christopher McLean.   Sensei Lunn, personally tested and promoted Mr. Vaughn and Mr. Tino Khvang to Shodan in March of 1991

1994-Present In 1994, Mr. Vaughn’s training with Sensei Joe Thomas and Sensei Christopher McLean was interrupted in 1994 when Mr. Vaughn attended a Police Academy in Texas.  Mr. Vaughn began his study of Jujitsu in 1996.  Mr. Vaughn became one of his Department’s three certified Defensive Tactics Instructors in 2001, teaching a Law Enforcement oriented Defensive Tactics System developed by Bruce Siddle, called PPCT, or Pressure Point Control Tactics.  The System teaches the control of combative subjects through the use of basic kicks, strikes, joint locks, and take downs from various styles of martial arts, as well as pain compliance through the use of pressure points, speed handcuffing, and the use of the expandable baton.  Mr. Vaughn has been a member of his Departments SWAT Team since 1998, and has held a Sniper Position since 2000.  He received Diplomatic Security training from the U.S. Department of State.

At present, Mr. Vaughn has resumed training under the instruction of Sensei Joe Thomas and Sensei Christopher McLean, under the direction of Sensei Lunn. (do not have the date to promotion to 2nd Degree)

Mr. Vaughn is a devoted father of two young children and looks forward to the time that they are old enough to begin their study of the Martial Arts.
