I began my training in Houston, TX. with Sensei Larry Lunn in 1985.  There I had the honor of training with Mr. Joe Thomas, Mr. Chris McClean, Mr. Paul Thomas, Mr. Tim Vaughn, Mr. Paul Frazee and Mr. Mark Johnson.  We trained rigorously under the instruction of Sensei Lunn.  My training in karate, kobudo, judo, and jujitsu all began with Sensei Lunn.  I receive my shodan from Sensei Lunn in the late 1980's and continued to train under his instruction until Sensei Lunn relocated to Ohio.  My brothers Joe, Chris, Paul, and myself lived together at the time and we continued the hard Mushinkai training we were accustomed to for several years.  I later receive my nidan from Sensei Lunn.

In the absence of Sensei Lunn, I began to train at various dojos of varying styles.  I was accompanied by my Mushinkai brothers and trained with Sensei Ray Keller in Shorin Ryu Karate-Do.  I later trained with Mr. Ramon Veras of the Goju-Ryu system under Sensei Morio Higaonna.  In addition, I began judo training under the instruction of Sensei Karl Geis, USA Olympic judo coach in Munich.  There I had the honor of training with Mr. Mark Olsen, Mr. Brian Neil, and Mr. Mat Richard, and of course Mr. Paul Thomas.  All of whom are state and national judo champions.  Although my training was brief at these different dojos compared to my training in Mushinkai, the experience was life changing.

In late 1994, I moved to California and settle down in the small beach city of San Pedro.  There my training continued with Mr. Wayne Fenlon who was a nidan in goju-ryu under Sensei Morio Higaonna.  Mr. Fenlon returned to Houston within a year and my training went into hibernation mode.

In 1997, I relocated to Phnom Penh, Cambodia where I trained with the Cambodia Olympic Judo team under Coach Setthi.  In late 1998, I returned to the United States and concentrated mostly on family and my career.  Again my martial arts training became dormant.  I was lost.

I was lost until early 2003.  I am now studying Goju-ryu with Mr. Brian Burdick of the Seiwa Kai JKF Goju-Ryu system under Sensei Vassie Naidoo.  I am also training with Mr. Michael Berger, Shihan of Shotokan Karate-do, whose lineage include Chief Instructor Masatashi Nakayama, Sensei Hiroshi Shoji, and Sensei Takeshi Ohishi.  I am also training with Mr. Brian Burdick in Brazilian Jujitsu.

The life changing experience began with my first meeting with Sensei Larry Lunn.  He opened my eyes to bushido.  And for that I thank you.
