John L. Gelenius

Teacher: Shihan John R. Lambdin  8th Dan Karate & Jujitsu, 4th Dan Judo, 5th Dan Tae Kwon Do

Mr. Gelenius began training in 1974 while in college under the direction of Master Lynn Jackson, MooDukKwan Korean style karate. He restarted his training December 1993 with Lorain Family Martial Arts under the direction of Sensei B. Szarek, 3rd Dan and L. Gonzalez 4th Dan in Shotokan-Master G. Funakoshi karate. After earning his Shodan black belt in 1996 he was directedto Shihan John R. Lambdin, 8th Dan for advance training in Mushinkai Karate, Kenka-Aiki-Jujitsu, Aikido, Kendo and Judo. 

Sensei Gelenius has attended many seminars and under the direction of many masters such as O-Sensei Philip S. Porter, 10th Dan, Judo & president of the USMA Association, Sensei Jim Klar, 2nd Dan Aikido, Sensei Ken Kondo, Shodan Iaido under Master Huguichi.

Sensei Gelenius currently holds rank of Sandan-Karate, Nidan-Jujitsu, Sandan-Judo. He has taught at the Lorain YMCA for over 10 years and gives children and young adults as well as men & women adults training in order for them to develop their skills in self-defense. Sensei Gelenius attends tournaments to help expand his knowledge and develop friends within the martial arts community.

Sensei resides and trains in Lorain, Oh and works in Kent, Oh for Ravens-A Marmon Highway Technologies Co. as Purchasing Manager.

Sensei has been married to his wonderful wife Debra and has a son Kyle as well as a daughter Kara.
